I've been meaning to create my own illustrated wall calendar for a long time. One day my friend suggested that the zodiac animals would be a good concept for a calendar since there are twelve of them which meant I'd draw one for each month. I love both animals and mythology so I thought the idea was great. I wanted to play with the base of the calendar by integrating the calendar grid into the illustration itself which lead to a fully illustarted colorful calendar.
I printed the illustrations on uncoated paper sheets that I folded and stapled together into calendars.
First I drew the line art with pencil on paper. Then I scanned them and colored them on computer.
